I was born and also brought up in Ampthill where I attended Russell County Primary School. I passed the eleven plus to Bedford High School, and it was there that I took my 'O' and 'A' levels.

From there I went on to DSt Matthias teacher training college, where I spent four years. During that time I went on an exchange to the University of Illinois, and I left college with B.Ed Hons degree from Bristol University.

It was while I was teaching in Bedford that I met and married Mike, and we both continued to attend Priory Methodist Church, which is where we met. I stopped teaching when my children were born, and went back to work part time, at first in Bedford, then later in Birmingham and Maidenhead. My music skills stood me in good stead and latterly I was teaching music exclusively.

Whilst in Maidenhead, I, too, felt called to the Methodist ministry. It was while I was candidating that I also succeeded in getting my first book, 'His Lordship's Gardener' accepted for publication. I am now ordained (see photo!) and my eighth novel has just been accepted for publication by Robert Hale. I write under the pseudonym of Ann Barker.
